FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is detailing?
The word 'Detailing' originated from America, the UK's 'valeting' if you will. However over recent years detailing has become a much larger part of the UK's car cleaning scene.
We like to sum up 'detailing' as 'the extreme end to vehicle cleaning'. A detail is much more involved than a valet, it involves paint assessment, de-contamination, swirl and light scratch removel and applying some of the worlds best carnauba waxes and protection products, hence the prices incured compared with a valet.
What is Carnauba wax?
Carnauba wax is a protection product, this is know as an 'LSP' (Last Stage Product) and comes in all different percentages of carnauba content in each pot. The wax actually comes from a native palm tree in Brazil, and with the help from the likes of Dodo Juice, this wax conforms into a product that protects your paintwork, and gives the finish a warm glow.
Can you justify your prices?
Every detail gets 100% meticulous attention, and nothing less, only the very best products are used on your vehicle, most of which actually come from the states, I will go above and beyond what I am asked to do, and in most cases, throw in a few extras as well. Quality and customer service is absolutely everything to me, and I will not leave until the owner is absolutely satisfied with their vehicle.
To gain the best possible results, it takes time, in most 'Enhancement detail' service cases, it can take at least 9 hours to achieve the standards I am happy with, and double that for paint correction details. Along with using quality products, my prices include all these factors, but also to keep them competitive and realistic.
Remember, your vehicle isnt getting any kind of quick wash with gritty sponges and dirty water, it is getting detailed to the highest possible standards, and the results speak for themselves.
Where are you based?
I am based in Barton-Upon-Humber, North Lincolnshire, and work a wide area outward from there.
Does valeting / detailing remove all scratches?
No, not all scratches, although you will be surprised at just what scratches can be removed, so before you go and get a quote for a re-paint from a body shop, possibly costing hundreds, give me a call, I will be more than happy to assess the damage and see if it would be fixable with detailing, costing you much much less.
I have just bought a brand new car, and want some extra protection on the paint work, what have you got?
I have a vast selection of sealers and waxes available, i will choose a wax / sealer that will give the best appearance on the vehicle and certainly a product of great durability, these will be discussed with the owner upon inspection.
I want to sell my car, what would you do to make it look its best for viewers?
This is dependent on the condition of the vehicle, selling a car that is a year or so old will have minor defects (if looked after correctly) compared to a vehicle of 10 years old. In the case of a newer vehicle, it may only need a maintenance type clean with the addition of a polish and some protection, where as the older vehicle may need a full paint correction to enable it to be suitable to sell, accept viewers and get its maximum price, but don't forget, a full detail can add hundreds onto the overall price of a vehicle, you may well get your money returned to you.
Do you bring your own generator & water supply?
No, all I require to complete the job is a power point & outside tap, I have all the necessary extension leads, I find a generator to be very loud, especially in a residential area, or near a school which could disturb people.
Do you have insurance?
Yes, Showroom Valet is FULLY insured to work on your vehicle, we have public liability insurance along with full cover for any accidental damage caused to your vehicle, giving you complete piece of mind.
What are the extra fuel expenses?
These expenses cover the fuel used to drive to destination's outside our 20 mile radius of Barton, from that point, it is 50 pence per mile.
What will happen if it is raining on the day of the valet?
In most cases I will still make the trip to try and clean your vehicle, only in exceptional circumstances such as heavy snow/rain will I have to cancel the booking, and re-arrange it at a date convenient for you.
Is there any point in having my car valeted / maintained in winter?
Firstly, yes, absolutely, many people think that it is a waste of money and time having their vehicle cleaned within the winter months, as it will just get dirty again within a short period of time. This is actually the most important time to have your vehicle cleaned, as it is when the majority of harmful contaminants stick to your paintwork, and without having the vehicle cleaned regularly, will begin to bond to the paintwork, destroying all that hard work and the money spent putting the paint in great condition, so basically, your vehicle is back to square one.
And secondly, avoiding removing all the dirt can also result in any wax / sealer that was previously applied to be much more quickly removed, leaving the paintwork exposed to the elements.
